Kanjirapuzha Dam is the major attraction of Mannarkkad. Its located in the bottom of the Vakkodan hills the Palakkad district of Kerala India. This is a masonry earth Dam has a core area of 2400 acres. The Dam includes an irrigation system for drinking water for around the Kanjirapuzha Dam its supply from the canal system. Kanjirapuzha River is the main part of filling the reservoir. The Kanjiirapuzha River is a tributary of Thuthapuzha River and they joined the Bharathapuzha a part of the west-flowing river.

The development of tourism by constructing a garden around the Dam and Kerala tourism minister Sri: Kadakampally Surendran inaugurated by the Kanjirapuzha Dam Garden. The garden has core area 8 acres bottom of the dam, They offer for Boating facility for children's, Swimming Pools and a beautiful green garden. The garden also has a musical fountain and special lightning arrangements are provided by the tourism development

The reservoir is covered by an evergreen forest area of the catchment is called Vettilachola. Three Islands at all side of the dam is a special attraction. The Islands also has an established commercial fisheries development program operated by the fisheries department.

How to Getting There?


This place is about 8 KM from Chirakkalpadi Junction on Palakkad-Kozhikkode highway Kanjirapuzha Dam is connected by frequent buses from Palakkad and Mannarkkad. Private vehicles can be hired from here.
